DS Body Odour

DS (8 y.o.) has had body odour since he was about 6. No other signs of early puberty - just stinky. He showers daily (and we check that he is cleaning properly) and wears a clean t shirt every morning. He also uses a natural aluminium free deodorant (Scrubbingtons Pit Stop) - and it's obvious within a couple of hours if he forgets to put it on. But this summer it's getting more noticeable - I open his bedroom door in the morning and his room is really smelly.

What else can I do? At what age are "proper" deodorants (eg with aluminium) seen as being ok?

My 16 yo ds smelled within hours after a shower. I saw a post about how it was a bacteria under the armpits so a fungicidal wash works. You leave it on for a few minutes to work then wash off. There's also a body wash on Amazon that's got good reviews for body odour and a hack is apparently head and shoulders shampoo applied on the armpits and left and then rinsed off.
We also changed to a gel deodorant as well which has had an immediate effect.

Thanks @Lennybenny - DH actually has some sulphur soap which is antibacterial / anti fungal so that's something we could try.

We tried sulphur soap, it didn't work. It's been hard for him because we smell it and it's revolting. Trying to get him to keep on top of it for his sake has been hard but now he's 16...he's actually much better. Seriously though the gel deodorant has made a ridiculous difference in smell.
We tried the paste one from amazon. I think its called Trust. It might be a good one for him cos of the smaller area and no hair(sounds very bad to write that but I can't see how applying it to a hairy manpit would be easy!)

Yeah....the sulphur soap has been an interesting experience Grin I can see with hindsight why it's been sitting at the back of the cupboard for months unused! What do you mean by a gel deodorant though @Lennybenny? We've switched him onto a Dove roll on which is zero alcohol / aluminium and he's much happier using that because DH uses a Dove spray so he feels a bit more grown up I think.
