Please help me!! I need some parenting tips!

My 5 year old Daughter is VERY strong willed.

It is worst just before bed. Every single night it is a battle to get her to go for a wee. She will swear blind that she doesn't need one and then when she finally gives in, she will do the biggest wee. She says no to me brushing her teeth. She gives in after a few minutes of me nagging. She says no to me brushing her hair. Again, she gives in after a few minutes. She refuses to get in to her pyjamas until I get really frustrated and start to put on my best stern voice.

I dread bedtimes. She does everything I ask but I have to nag and get a bit angry before she will do anything.

I find it so frustrating. Every night I go in to her room thinking I won't get frustrated and I will try to make bed time a positive experience but instead it goes terribly and I come downstairs feeling really guilty.

Any advice??

Have you tried changing your routine up a bit so that you do all of those things maybe half an hour earlier then she has some time to play and the longer she takes to get ready the less time she then has to play? There might still be a battle when it’s time to stop playing but that’s one battle compared to several ones to get her to do what you want. It seems to work with my DD or that she gets no story or one less story; my DD knows that if she isn’t ready by bedtime (she can’t tell the time but understands the numbers on the clock for bedtime) then she gets less time for stories and chat
