Online concern

For context- I am 22 years old, I’ve grown up around the internet and for this reasoning it really puts me off allowing children to access it. I’ve worked within education and some children have been frightened by content they have seen online. I too have experienced this before- including as a grown adult!

Today alone I’ve witnessed two videos of people panicking after being exposed to concerning content on tiktok. For the record my ‘for you’ page is makeup tutorials, and funny videos. I’m genuinely concerned about how this content can slip through the cracks and how easily accessible it is despite the supposed ‘algorithm’ I know as a child I would have feared telling a grown up in case I got into trouble! This must be the source of anxiety for children surely! Is anyone else concerned about this? Did anyone else grow up with the internet and wish they didn’t? I’m so worried about my little ones am I being unreasonable?

It's quite terrifying!!! As a child I accidentally found a porn site while doing my homework on google. Of course parental restrictions weren't what they are now. I think you need to be vigilant about how things work so you can put the appropriate restrictions in place
