Graco turn2me car seat help

Hi,

I recently bought the graco turn2me car seat for my 6 month old. When she falls asleep her head tips forward and it doesn't look very safe for her. I went into Halford and all they can suggest is buying a chest strap to see if thst helps however her chest isn't tipping forward so Im not sure that would make a difference. The seat is reclined as far back as it can go and it is suitable from birth up to 4 years old.

Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have any advice or do I just need to wait a few months until she is a bit bigger before I use it?

Thanks 😊

What inserts are you using in the seat? At 6 months you will definitely want the wedge insert and body insert. I'm guessing likely you have taken these out and that is causing the problem. Make sure the headrest is adjusted to the correct position as well, the wedge makes them sit high up in the seat so it may need to be higher than the minimum position. If the headrest is too low down it will also cause the head flop issue.

Sorry but it's absolutely terrible advice you've had from Halford's! Those chest straps are a last resort to help prevent determined escaping children, they should never be used to "fix" a poor harness fit, that would be really dangerous as they don't actually have any restraining function in a crash.

This is a really brilliant informative video all about the seat (the Graco Turn2Me and Joie 360 are the same seat under the covers). Watch the video and you'll see about the inserts :) Sometimes the manual calls it a newborn insert which is a bit misleading! I am still using both bottom inserts for my 1 year old.

Thank you so much for your help! I watched the video and put the wedge in and tried again and this time when she fell asleep her head stayed in the right position 😊

I was quite disappointed by Halford as their advice wasn't great and they didn't sound like they really knew what they were talking about tbh.

Thanks again x

Hi, sorry to jump into this thread but I'm hoping you can help. I watched the video and it was great. Do you know if it's ok to just use the body half of the insert on the Graco turn2me? The video says the wedge is the last bit to go but my 14 month old really doesn't fit it. But her head is lolling forwards when she falls asleep. I've got the body half of the insert in because the seat looks so big without it. I've tried adjusting the headrest (she's on the smallest selling even though she's 77cm).
Just wondering what your thoughts are.
Thanks.

I would keep both in - you probably need to raise the headrest if she doesn't fit with it in. Try sitting her a bit higher in the seat. Head flop usually means you need to put the wedge back in and/or raise the headrest :) If the headrest is too high without the wedge, that's another sign you need the wedge. The wedge is SO chunky in this seat it really makes a difference. It's common to have moved the headrest up with wedge in and then when you take it out, you can move the headrest back down a couple of notches because it's quite a bit higher without the wedge. I'd guess 3-4 months' time she'll be more like 80+cm and will fit better without the wedge then.

Other than this you can contact Joie/Graco customer services and they should be able to advise you. Maybe send them pictures of her with the different inserts.
