Wake windows question - nearly 7mo

My DD is a week away from 7 months and I’m not sure what wake windows I should be following. She seems to be able to stay awake and happy longer now, but for the past few nights she’s been waking screaming between half an hour and an hour after going to bed.

Her last nap usually takes her to 3.30/4 (depending how long she goes - she’s very unpredictable!) and bed time is around 7pm. She is put down awake with no dummy and settles herself to sleep, so I don’t understand this sudden waking and being unable to settle back down? I end up having to give her a dummy as nothing else works!

So i’m wondering if she is overtired and I should make her last nap a bit later?

Any thoughts? X

It's worth a try Smile I think you're right that the "false start" can be a sign of over tiredness.

My son needs a fair bit of day time sleep it seems, so at 9mo his last nap usually ends at 3.30/4ish for a 7pm bedtime. At 7mo his last nap ended usually more like 5pm ish.

Thanks! It’s so difficult to make sure she’s had enough naps! Especially when she’s so bloody unpredictable! Like today she had a 2 hour morning nap (not the norm!) which took her to lunch time so I wouldn’t be able to fit in 2 more naps so kept her going until 3pm. If I’d put her down any earlier there wouldn’t be time for a nap again before bed! Aaaahhhhh 🫠😂

🤣 My son is the same. Just when you think they're into a bit of a pattern they chuck in a curveball!

@bombombo thats the thing! You get so used to them sleeping well and when they have a rough patch it’s a shock to the system! 😂

My son is a similar age and we loosely follow the 'little ones' sleep schedules. He naps 9.30-10 and then 12.30-2.45ish. bedtime between 6.30 and 7. If he seems particularly tired he'll have a 15 min power nap around 4.30/4.45 but more often than not doesn't bother. If he doesn't manage a long nap at lunchtime (if we're out and about for example) then I aim for 3 45 min naps, one in the morning, one around lunchtime and one in the afternoon as long as he's awake by about 4.45 otherwise he won't be ready for bed at 7
