7 month old won't sleep through since having Covid

Just wondering if anyone is experiencing the same?

My little one used to sleep 9 hours straight, no problem, he then had his 4 month sleep regression and woke up once a night for a week or 2 and then went back to normal pattern.

He then got COVID at 5 months and his sleep was understandably all over the place, but it hasn't recovered since. This was about 7 weeks ago. He's waking up 3 times a night, usually 11, 1 and 3 ish. The first 2 he will feed and go back to sleep, the 3am one he will either feed and go back to sleep up for 1.5 - 2 hours and just won't go back to sleep.

I'm really starting to struggle with this now. I'm barely getting 6 hours of broken sleep a night and I feel like I can't carry on like this.

Sorry to hear this. I've had covid 3 times and ot messes up my sleep for a couple of months each time - that does pass though. Another possibility is that your ds is now teething and that's disturbing his sleep.

Mine did that at that age. It was teeth. It lasted two months and ended with an 8 month sleep regression. I was up every couple of hours for that full two months, and there were some nights of zero sleep.

(he had covid just before the regression and slept amazing for a week!)

Are you breastfeeding? I found the more he fed, the more he woke. Do you try and settle without a feed? If you can manage it once a night then over time it will increase and he'll sleep through again eventually. You know... until the next tooth

It could be teething. He's been dribbling lots for months but no sign of teeth but maybe they're on their way.

I do breastfeed. I have tried settling him without. Sometimes it works and he goes back down, other times he's awake for a couple of hours so I have resorted to feeding him as soon as he wakes as that's the best chance of him going back down. What you said makes sense though, maybe I need to stop the feeding so he knows it isn't a night option and just try to settle without it. He used to go 9.5hrs so no reason why he'd need these feeds now. I'll give it a try. Thanks

Honestly it probably hasn’t got anything to do with the covid and that is just a coincidence. Baby sleep is not linear in the first year, lots of things cause it to be disrupted so just because for X hours for a period of time doesn’t mean they will forever.
DD slept for 10+ hours for periods of time and then would have others where she frequently woke. 7 months is still quite young to have no night feeds, even if he previously slept through.
