Hey what do you guys do with baby clothes that no longer fit? If I don't end up selling them they can go for free I just want someone to get good use out of them really and not sure where to start!

Assuming they're of sellable quality our local children's centre used to have a 'help yourself' box. To be honest it's worth suggesting even if they don't have one, was very useful.

I sell some (via Vinted or NCT fair)
newborn/0-3mo went to local baby basket charity
split the rest between a local charity that works with families and various charity shops
Clothes that were stained/too bobbled go in the textile bank at the tip.

I look at the hundreds of pounds that no longer fit and weep in despair!

  • following with interest though as I have piles of them that I was just going to take to our local baby bank!

I sell on Vinted and then use the money to buy the next size up on Vinted too (mostly)

Some things I really like have been kept for future babies, and some donated to our local mother and baby charity.

There’s a lovely organisation in Ireland called Let’s Match Mums, where you sign up and are put in touch with a local refugee/asylum seeker with kids a bit younger than yours. I dropped off lots of things last month and it was really appreciated. I liked knowing who it went to, not just a charity shop. I was given so much myself it was nice to share the love. I did keep some favourite bits though!

I sell what I can (not much) and bring the rest to the local charity shop that also gives the local refugees from Ukraine stuff for free.

I send to my local baby bank xx

LemonDrizzles · 20/08/2022 07:49

Great quality, in New condition, all coats - sell on Facebook, or hopefully vinted
Great condition, try to find a friend first, then a specific charity as they are always in need
Bad condition- textile recycling. There are bins around. H&m collect as well.

Note, I kept once of each first shoes - I may try to get then bronzed or something of that is s thing

Also keeping a few key outfits as heirlooms

All the best

I kept a small underbed storage box with all 3 of my babies favourite outfits - eventually I plan to make a blanket out of them.

The rest went to baby banks and my local mums free cycle.

Baby Bank or charity shop

Namechanger965 · 20/08/2022 08:31

Dont bother selling on eBay, they way they take fees means you aren’t left with much of the payment now.

Vinted doesn’t take selling fees but I’ve noticed stuff seems to be on there quite a while so I think it probably takes a while to sell.

I tend to give ours to the local baby bank or a woman locally who works with the local domestic violence shelter to give parcels of clothes to families there. If you are happy to donate them you could ask your health visitor if she knows where takes donations local to you.
