Can anyone guess what's wrong?

DS is coming up for 6 weeks old and has spent the past 2 days very irritable. He is such a relaxed baby and has a lovely nature but the past 2 days has been crying so much. I'm not sure what's wrong. He seems to have so much wind that I can't for the life of me get out, possibly has a little cold because he sounds a bit stuffed up (no other signs but DC1 although she says she feels fine, is the same so assume it might be) and also seems to be being sick a lot in his mouth. I'm a bit worried that it could be silent reflux and it's just showing its head now but would it do that so late? DC1 had reflux and showed signs almost from day 2 and I'm slightly terrified to go through all that again.
Last night DS was soooo noisy when he was sleeping that I could hardly sleep so have no idea how he did. He also just seems much more cuddly than usual, just wanting comfort. He is still doing lots of dirty and wet nappies but isn't feeding for as long (he's EBF)

I know that 6 weeks can be a fussy time but because DC1 had terrible reflux I'm not sure if this is normal or something else I need to be concerned about? Any guesses?

Colic? Is he old enough for gripe water? It made the absolute world of difference to my DD

Just Googled and yes, he'd be old enough to try gripe water. My DD did about a 5 minute long fart and then was happy as Larry after being increasingly irritable and uncomfortable for days.

@RebeccaCloud9 would colic start so late at 6 weeks? I tried gripe water with DC1 and it made her even worse! Will have a think about it but the mention of it is bringing back PTSD 😅

Have a look into cmpa my lo has it. Can take a few weeks to kick in by the time the body reacts to the protein.

Growth spurt

Mamabear04 · 19/08/2022 09:27

@Tiredbutworthit i thought about this but he's not had any green poos to suggest so but maybe that's not a symptom?
@Sbena could be! I've noticed his head has grown a lot this past week...

My lo didn't have green poos til she switched to the amnio acid milk. They were more mucusy and just diarrhoea. Like others have said it could be a growth spurt but it's something to watch out for :)
