Toys for a 4 year old...

I want to buy some toys for my 4 year old. He seems bored of his current toys and I have not bought him anything new for a while.
I would love to buy a marble run but worried he might swallow a marble.
Any ideas?
He has brio training set that is the only thing the he happily play with.

Marble run is good. Mine really like it and not swallowed a marble. Duplo or Lego. My boy is obsessed with any type of toy vehicles. Kinetic sand is good.

Cars, rug with road pattern, car transporter, garage with ramp.

Plastic animals + lots of fences

duplo

loads of wooden bricks in different sizes/shapes

Marble run should be fine for a 4yo surely?

Lego?

Ds is 3.5 and plays with marble run. Hubelino is played with a lot. Still loves Duplo & train but often plays with Lego alongside his older siblings. Just getting in to his Playmobil farm/fire/zoo and Sylvanian Families thanks to his siblings. Hot Wheel cars & car mat are loved but not the track or sets.

mine all love/loved magnet tiles. I got a big batch second hand as they are quite pricey new and they all play loads with them.

DS is 4 and he lives for Hot Wheels. He's loved them since he was little and used to steal them from DD! We've got hundreds of cars, a few small(ish) playsets and the big Ultimate Garage. He'd play with them pretty much all day if he could.

Otherwise it's Duplo and Lego. We got him a few of the 4+ sets for his birthday and he builds and rebuilds them all the time, by himself. Initially I got them to keep him away from his sister's Lego, but he loves doing it. We're definitely going to get him some more for Christmas!

Another big hit is the easel/chalkboard. I bought it for DD(8) when she was 2 and both DC use it nearly every day. We usually have to get new pens every year because they get used so much! We got the IKEA one.
