Were you a nice girl?

Or do you look back on your school years and more particularly your teens and die a thousand deaths at what a complete and utter knob you were?

If you, like me, were a twat, do you ever wonder how you will bring up your little girl to be a nice girl?

My blood runs cold at the thought of her taking the risks I took, but I have no frame of reference on how to be a useful, positive mother to help her become a happy, confident girl.

And will I smother her by going too far the other way?

Does anyone else worry about this?

I was a twat of the highest calibre.

I was talking to DP about this last night, saying the kids will grow up to thing I'm a nice, quiet, sensible, pillar of the community type person and expect that I've always been this way.

I was drinking every other day or so by about 13, I started smoking at around the same time, weed at about 14/15 then harder drugs 16-19, I got into fights all the time, slept around a bit, and to top it all off, I thought that I was 'cool'.

I wasn't, I was a fucking idiot.

I like to think I'll bring my children up differently though, because my parents were fucking idiots too, maybe if I had had someone tell me I was being an idiot or that they cared I wouldn't have been so bad.

I was horrible, and yes I will be much stricter than my mother was. She thinks this is very funny.

I do wonder though if I will always assume the worst because that's what I was like and worry myself into an early grave when dd might be sensible.

Oh god I hadn't even considered the idea that she might have an innate sensible streak.

I am so happy to have boys. I was a rebel on the outside, but rarly carried things through.

Everyone thought I was a bad girl, but I was quite sensible when it came to some things. I drank, smoked and other stuff.

But DH was my first and last

Ooo, I was a bit of both, I was part of the 'blonde, skinny popular' crowd at school (but proud to be the 'nice' one who was friendly with the whole year) but by being in said crowd I was a bit of a slut (lost IT before I got my first period etc) from 13+, drunk lots from about 14, took illicit substances most weeks from 4th year onwards...
I got 5 grade A a levels and went to LSE though...
I think it was aprt of the private school mentality, I was charming in person and a straight A student but when I was partying...
Oh god, the memories!!!!!
