Getting teen boys trousers to fit...

Hi - any advice gratefully received! My DS 15 has long legs and a very high waist. If he wears trousers at his waist, they look a bit... odd as it makes him appear to have a very short body. If I buy him trousers to fit lower (which he prefers in terms of comfort) I have to buy a much bigger waist size but this also impacts on the leg, so that the trousers look way too big on the leg. He no longer fits in the 15-16 boys trouser, they are way too short and tight.
This is all a bit of a minefield to me... Any guidance from other mums of boys very welcome!

My DS buys from 2tall based in Scotland.
Otherwise visit Finland 🇫🇮 or The Netherlands 🇳🇱 😎

What type of trousers? Do you mean school trousers? My ds is nearly 14 tall and skinny. He doesn’t wear trousers as such other than school uniform. The rest of the time he’s in tracksuit bottoms or shorts. In mens trackies he wears XS.
Jeans are an issue, he will only wear the jogger type ones. And rarely ever wears them!
School trousers are M&S slim fitting, they have the waist adjusters.

Hi thanks v much, I have to buy branded school trousers so was talking more about fashion trousers. My DS is the same and prefers to only wear joggers or anything with an elasticated waist. Would quite like to get him wearing proper trousers or jeans!

Ha ha me too - I can’t see me winning that battle though!

@BobbyGentry thanks but I wouldn't say he is particularly tall, he just has long legs and a short body...

I think it's trial and error - total minefield to me too! Jack and Jones have loads of combinations on the asos website for cargo style trousers - www.asos.com/jack-jones/jack-jones-intelligence-slim-fit-cargo-in-black/prd/202004793?clr=black&colourWayId=202004809&SearchQuery=jack+and+jones - they seem to be a good compromise between joggers and trousers! And they have a 'fit assistant' to help find the right size

My 15 year old ds never wears trousers or jeans outside of school. He wears shorts in a mens size small. I'm not sure he owns dressier trousers tbh

H and m are good. I’ve had boohoo recommended to me and my plan is to take mine to a Levi outlet when his gap jeans don’t fit anymore.

Similar problem. I find sometimes buying slim fit but sizing up in the waist helps. Ds has 32" waist, but 36" slim with a belt fits tolerably well, whereas 32" anything won't even reach his waist to do up.

These, for example, are a recent purchase (in the sale!) which are a good fit with a belt. Added advantage that Lands End hem men's trousers to the length you require.
