8 week check tomorrow for my little munchkin. Being done by the GP not HV. I'm sure she said on the phone I need to get him weighed beforehand but I thought that they would do that surely?! It says in my blue book they also measure length etc.

HV hasn't been in touch since 2 weeks old and I cant get hold of them to check this today (line is only open Mon to Wed - shortage of staff apparently)

... will the GP do this? Or do I need to get it done separately by the HV - which won't be by tomorrow

Are you in England? I have a red book and 6 week check. But no they didn't weigh. There's no weighing service where I live any more. As my ds is on the smaller side and I'm bf I actually just gave in and bought some scales from
Amazon 😬

In England yeah. Oh how shit! It's probably the same for me then. I've thought about it but they aren't cheap... guess I will now though. My baby was also born small and so I'm really keen to track his weight and measurements etc.

DD is 3.7 and once we'd had the first set of checks at home we then had access to a set of scales at a local health centre and were expected to weigh her ourselves. I think they get more actively involved if they have concerns. I can only imagine it's been scaled back even more post-covid.

The gp weighed my child at the check, but i guess they all do things differently...

I don't know about your area, but in mine they've gone back to drop ins for weighing rather than booking; might be worth popping round some time if you're local to the centre
