Early teething ...?? Or comfort chewing

8 week old is constantly chewing/sucking his hands. Or anything he can have his mouth near. He isn't hungry -I must have made 500 bottles for him to turn his nose up at.

Is it possible for teething this early?! Or more likely to be a comfort thing? He spits a dummy out immediately.

Been really grouchy recently but not sure if that's the silent reflux /tongue tie he has.

Gums look normal but I'm a FTM so no clue really!

Just wondering if Its a red flag of some kind im missing

Or just the first time mum anxiety! He is seeming to feed more often right now im general but its definitely not hunger as I say

Mine did this alllll the time and even bit down hard on my fingers if I tried to feel his gums, I was constantly convinced he was teething all the time as he had all the ‘symptoms’ and there was drool everywhere constantly but he didn’t get his first tooth till his 1st birthday!

Yeah he has started to drool too! It does seem super early to me and maybe normal baby behaviour but it seems excessive and he has suddenly started doing it. He also clamps down on my fingers when I try to check his gums... but yeah maybe it's just part of being a baby

My baby started doing that at 8 weeks, as did a lot of other babies I know. My baby is now 20 weeks and still doing it, and no teeth.

Mine started doing it around the same time and I believe she's trying to get wind up. It usually works to be fair!

My 5 month old has had his hands permanently shoved in his mouth since he discovered them at 2-3 months. Even during feeding sometimes he tries to fit a hand in along side the bottle 😂. He drools loads and chews absolutely everything. A month ago I had a paediatrician convinced he must be teething as he chewed his hands so much and here we are weeks later and still not a single tooth!
The nurse at my hospital’s Infant Feeding team said babies have an oral phase as well as start producing more saliva in general and that’s what it is and you may or may not see teeth but either way babies will try to put everything in their mouth as part of their normal development anyway.

Thanks all - sounds like it's just part if being a baby. Really messing up my hunger cues and trying to be a good mummy and get his bottle before the crying starts.

I swear aptamils profits must have sky rocketed this week with how much formula I've been through!!
