Uppababy bassinet on hot days?

Does anyone have experience using the Uppababy bassinet in hot weather? Is there enough ventilation when you have the zip on cover attached? It seems quite cozy in there so was wondering if babies get too hot in warm weather? I tried unzipping the ventilation bit at the front but it seems to let the sun in too so is it meant for use in the shade only? Obviously I’ll avoid going for walks in the hottest part of the day but we do have a few medical appointments where it’s unavoidable and I wanted to go to a breastfeeding drop in that’s only held in the middle of the day.

Have you got a sunshade/parasol type thing you could attach to the hood and shade the baby? Then you can take off the covers entirely, maybe lay them on a muslin to keep cool? X

Thanks for the advice. I don’t have any additional sun shade yet, just what cam with the pram. I was wondering whether these have any benefit over just using the pram cover?

Hi I used a snooze shade and a portable mini fan. Laid baby inside with sleeveless/legless onesie on with fan blowing over but not directly onto baby. She was fine ☺️

I'll look into the snooze shade. I was wondering how safe they are given they are black and it's often not recommended to cover prams? Most of the safety info seems to be from the company itself. It is so confusing as a FTM to navigate all the safety advice around baby products I never know what to believe! Did you find that it allowed the inside of the pram to stay cooler than it would just using the pram cover?

I read a load of reviews on different sites including ones dedicated to paediatric first aid. It has a zip opening on it too if you want to open that for more air. My LO seemed happy enough, we kept checking her for overheating and she didn't get hot or clammy. The black is to block the UV and the fabric is breathable

I would only used the pram cover in colder weather. I used the pram with summer babies and they were just in the open bassinet in a babygrow and maybe a muslin over them. The hood has built in ventilation if I remember. You could attach a muslin to the hood and loosely stretch it across the bassinet for shade if that’s your concern, just make sure there is lots of space either side to let air in.
