Do you think it’s ok that my 14 month old isn’t walking yet? Everyone says she should be but I’m not sure if she is just loves to crawl 😂
ChocoButterfly · 05/08/2022 10:32
At 18 months if she's still not crawling GP will do some physical tests until then no worries.
MassiveSalad22 · 05/08/2022 10:32
That’s fine. I’ve known kids not walk until like 23 months and the parents were getting worried by then but they ended up fine.
lOPAS · 05/08/2022 10:32
I would worry unless she isn't walking by 18 months - 2 years.
One of mine didn't walk till 15.5 months.
ablisha · 05/08/2022 12:09
My son didn't walk until 17 months, lots of worrying on my behalf for no reason
Imaginary · 05/08/2022 13:24
My DS only started walking at 18 months.
Candycats · 05/08/2022 13:34
My son didn't start walking until he was 15 months, for him it was definitely a confidence thing as he was very happy walking around holding onto the furniture, but didn't brave letting go until this age.
mynameiscalypso · 05/08/2022 13:41
My DS was 15 months. He's now 3 and ahead in all his motor skills.
Enko · 05/08/2022 13:41
Son was 18 months when he started walking is older sister started at 10 months.. you just cant compare.
Parky04 · 05/08/2022 13:51
A friends son didn't walk until 2 1/2. He used to bum shuffle everywhere. He now runs for a local athletics club and is very good!
ivykaty44 · 05/08/2022 13:53
My youngest didn’t walk u til 17 m and never crawled or bum shuffled - jyst upped and walked 😂
boymama82 · 05/08/2022 13:54
My first son walked at 12 months but my now 13 month old isn't walking yet and I'm not worried. He's walking holding onto furniture but has no balance yet, please don't worry, it'll happen!
AquaticSewingMachine · 05/08/2022 13:56
My second didn't walk until 18 months. He was a fast crawler and just couldn't be arsed. When he was 18 months we went on holiday to a place with a shallow kids pool and he suddenly saw the point of walking upright :)
He was slow to talk too, but both his motor and verbal skills are now gangbusters. The range of normal is very wide.
Mumblechum0 · 05/08/2022 13:57
Mine was 16 months. I wasn't really worried as he was cruising for ages, just couldn't pluck up the courage to go for it! He's absolutely fine now.
teaandtoastwithmarmite · 05/08/2022 14:24
Neither me or dd walked until 15-16 months.
PuttingDownRoots · 05/08/2022 14:28
My DD crawled for 7 months before she walked. She could get everywhere by crawling and climbing so I think she didn't see the point!
She only switched to walking when we took her to the beach and she didn't like crawling on sand.
yikesanotherbooboo · 05/08/2022 14:33
It is completely normal. Anyone who is telling you otherwise is trouble making, unkind or ignorant. Don't worry for a second.
JolieJ · 05/08/2022 14:38
My second walked at 18 months, he's now 2.5 and runs so fast it's hard to keep up! Wait till 18 months at least, some kids just take longer
Becknutmeg · 05/08/2022 17:54
Ahhh thank you all for the help! Glad to know she’s ok and it’s normal. thank youuuuuuuuu everyone ❤
bakewellbride · 05/08/2022 17:58
Ds didn't until he was 18 months. He's a few days shy of 4 now and runs about absolutely everywhere and did great at his preschool gymnastics club.
My friend didn't walk until 2 years and she's a very successful young adult now.
It's fine! They do it when they do it.
MolliciousIntent · 05/08/2022 18:31
Can she hold her own weight if you hold her up? That's the most important thing, not whether or not she can walk.
AfterGlow87 · 05/08/2022 18:52
My baby has just gone 15 months and a bum shuffler! Just learned to sit up from lying down and he can stand at the couch for a few mins but no walking yet. He’s a big, tall baby but making good progress so I’m happy. Very hard not to compare to all the other babies
Becknutmeg · 08/08/2022 13:42
@MolliciousIntent Yeh she can hold her weight when you old her, but she gets a bit stubborn and prefers to waddle round the sofa whilst holding on 🤣 good to know it’s not bad though!!!
CrisisCafe · 08/08/2022 14:07
Mine didn't walk until 17 and 16 months! They NEVER crawled or even really cruised. Just bottom shuffled then stood up and walked- later than other children but fairly steady from the beginning. They are both physically 'normal' boys now!!!
uncomfortablydumb53 · 08/08/2022 14:26
My DS2 wasn't walking at 18 months so was referred to Paediatrics... by the time the appointment came... He was running
Don't worry 14 months is an average time
LucyWeb1 · 09/08/2022 18:41
My LO started at 16 months. I wouldn’t worry x
