Baby not rolling or sitting

Hello, posting as I am worried and considering calling the health visitor.

My 6 month old is not rolling from any direction (despite tummy time every day since she was born) and she is not sitting. She is also not interested in food or her milk at the moment, I mentioned this to a nurse about the milk and they said it only becomes a problem if they're dehydrated...

She is 7.4kg At 6 months and 2 weeks.

Advice appreciated please

I don’t have any advice I’m afraid as I’m a FTM of a 5 month old. But if you’re worried just call the HV. At the very least it will put your mind at rest. I’m sure she’s probably just going at here own pace though

If she's not interested in food or milk she could be teething. My baby went through a low milk and super tiny food portions before her first tooth popped in. I wouldn't worry for a few days (easier said than done, I know).

All babies meet milestones at their own pace - my baby rolled from her belly to back half a dozen times (mostly by accident) and a few weeks ago, just woke up and decided to roll...once she discovered rolling could move her, she got pretty good, pretty quick. As for sitting, just keep persevering...a friends 8 month old has just started to sit by herself...(my baby sat by herself at 3 months! - she's excelled at some and completely missed others); I'm going with the flow and so long as baby is developing at their own pace then that's brilliant.

DS NEVER rolled as a baby. As in never. He also never crawled.

He just ended up skipping both. He learnt to sit so never needed to roll. He learnt to cruise so what was the point in crawling?

Not sitting at 6 months is within the normal range. You have a while longer before it starts being thought of as a concern.

As for food... Don't get me started. Meal times were a nightmare. He didn't start eating anything but milk properly until about 11 months. He just wasn't interested. We tried everything in terms of weening. And he wasn't drinking as much milk as he apparently should have. He was gaining weight and full of attention and energy (this is what to look for more - not interested in the world and not gaining weight - and particularly a change for the worse on any of this counts that seems out of character). He just wasn't a hungry baby.

My point here is that babies not conforming to the book does not mean there is a problem. It just highlights the fact each is a custom design without a manual supplied.

Seriously, give it time, its not a race.

I would call a health visitor just to make sure everything is alright and if there is actually a delay in development. If something is actually wrong, they will be able to help.
