Nap lenth 7 weeks

So my 7 week old has been having a but of a rubbish time - reflux, chesty wheezy. He slept well last night - 4 hrs which is the longest he has gone for weeks.

Currently approaching a 3 hr nap during the day. We are bound to the bedroom as I have a sickness bug which probably doesn't help in getting him used to night and day I know but I'm feeling pretty poo.

Everyone keeps telling me don't let them nap longer than 2 hrs during the day -but I feel so sorry for him - his sleep has been shit bless him for weeks. I'm going to need a goodish night tonight to help get over this bug (good to me is a 2 hr stretch)

I cant bear to wake him up though. Am I going to make this hell for myself tonight?

Yes, wake your baby up after 2hrs, they can always go back down again in an hour's time. They need to be stimulated inbetween to tire them out.

I’d only wake if he needs feeding. If he’s a good weight and fed well before sleeping I’d leave well alone and try to get a nap.

I wouldn’t wake him personally. It’s not late in the day, plenty of chance for him to be awake later before bedtime. And if you’re ill, it’s possible he is too (hope not). Overtiredness is WAY harder to fix than undertiredness.

I wouldn't wake him up from a nap at that age, I have an 8 week old and I think that if he sleeps he needs it.

Who said wake them after 2 hours? That's nonsense.

Sbena · 05/08/2022 08:26

At 7 weeks I wouldn't be incline to wake them. 7 months, yeah probably.

redandwhite1 · 05/08/2022 08:30

I wouldn't, doubt they'll sleep a lot longer anyway!

Most baby advice books do.
