The picture isn't really clear enough to see. How old is your baby and does he seem in discomfort?

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/08/2022 10:39

That looks like the eczema DD had as a baby. Cleared up with eumovate ointment and daily moisturising with cetraben. How long have you been using the cream? You could go to a pharmacist or back to the GP.

Is this any better?

I'm not qualified in any way to say this is exactly what it is, but from experience this looks like it might be Keratosis Pilaris. Which is a fancy name for harmless bumps. It's really common in adults and can happen in kids - check out the NHS page on it, I found it really helpful.

I have it (and have done since my early 20s) and my DS (18 Months old) has it, both on the backs of our arms and he sometimes gets it on his thighs. But I think kids can get it all over their bodies. Could you check in with a pharmacist if you haven't already and see what they say?

Is your little one in discomfort from it? Like are they trying to itch it? If so, then it might not be the above and something else as KP isn't itchy or anything. It's usually completely harmless, just doesn't look nice sometimes when it flares up and tends to come and go over long periods of time.

Hope you get an answer soon!

So this is just a guess, but my ds is intolerant to dairy, fructose and gluten and before we found this out he was covered in eczema (looked similar to your dc) as soon as we cut the foods out it completely cleared up. This was at about 8 months he's now 2 and it hasn't come back (he still doesn't eat those foods).

Could you maybe get your dc allergy tested and see if that helps?
