He was diagnosed with croup on Sunday, had steroids. He is still waking up in the night with what sounds like a chesty wet cough. He had his chest checked Tuesday they said it’s fine but surely it would have gone by now? It’s worse at night but I thought it only lasts 3 days? Any experience etc as I’m so worried. He isn’t barking any more but the cough sounds horrific still.

how long did your babies last? Where the cough sounded proper chesty.

My daughter has had croup x3 and the barking lasted a few days and the cough usually cleared up within a week.

Last time I spoke to my gp about it in June she said that covid is presenting in children a bit croup like. Has little one had a covid test?

hope they feel better soon, croup is just awful x

Mine suffered from croup for a week, cough, fevers and off his food. He had one dose of the steroids. Always get checked again if you feel unsure. It's not true it only lasts for 3 days, I was advised by a&e paediatrician that it peaks at 3 to 4 days, so may get worse before it gets better.
