Sharing a bed

Soooooo, dad here. Want to take my amazing 8 year old fire ball of a daughter away whilst she still talks to me (unlike my teenage children)

Now, neither me or my wife would have any issue with this but would it be weird that I book somewhere to stay overnight that just had a double bed that we both shared as don't want any weird looks from hotels/guest houses

I want to take her to the lakes for the night but choice and cost is very limited so sharing a bed would make sense?

Thoughts please :-)

Could use an air bed? Been thinking of doing something similar

She's a very restless sleeper and because we're away somewhere strange even if got 2 beds would end up in same bed with me. I'm more concerned about what hotels/guest house would think. I don't think it's weird.

Do others?

I'm more thinking if I booked somewhere for the 2 of us that only had a double bed.

I hate being judged for sharing a bed with my daughter. When my wife goes away she sleeps in her own bed but as she knows mam is away she normally joins me at about 1am

How would other guests know whether you have a double bed or twin room?

I wouldn't bat an eyelid!

I would think it's fine with an 8 year old. Probably cusp of young enough for me to not have second thoughts. Wouldn't judge, but wonder if that's based on old fashioned family opinions and nowadays people are more touchy about this

Imo if she's young enough to come knocking after a nightmare, it's chill.

If I was checking you in I might feel worried. What about getting a small family room with a double bed and cot bed?

itwillgetbettersoon99 · 02/08/2022 18:01

My point is, I have very limited choice whats available .

This is my point though, why would you feel concerned, if it was a woman and her daughter would you?

I'm just curious as to why you would feel that way.

The only reason I'd say this would not be reasonable is if your daughter didn't want to share a bed.

A father sharing a bed with his 8 year old daughter specifically for a one night holiday is absolutely fine in my opinion. You're family!!
