Birthday parties

I usually have a party for my twin girls, and they are quite keen on a few friends from school attending. Unfortunately, this year has been difficult & lots of falling out, and bullying (my girls have aln so friendships are tricky). It's gotten a bit uncomfortable between parents too as we've all heard a lot about these fallings out of course. I don't really want to have these kids around my girls out of school really, but it's definitely me deciding this not them. Last year one twin was left out at her party and cried, it was devastating to see, and one of the girls whispered mean things about my other twin within my ear shot. I'm torn between letting them choose who to invite and sucking it up or pulling the plug entirely on any form of party (which I know will disappoint them).... intervene or stop complaining?

Friend each on a day out if you can fit four kids in your car?

That's a good idea about a friend each to invite.... I'm a bit worried they might choose the two friends who are the ones who are unkind the most (they are both so drawn to them!)
