5 month old crawling help!

Milliesmmy92 · 01/08/2022 16:38

Basically this! My 5 month old is crawling abs absolutely everything is in her mouth- I turned heat for possibly a minute earlier and nearly all of the wipes were out. Do I let her just carry on or try my best to set boundaries? Xx

Err if she is ready to crawl you can’t stop her!

LittleBearPad · 01/08/2022 16:40

Put dangerous stuff out of reach and get stair gates.

PuttingDownRoots · 01/08/2022 16:43

At this age all you can do is make their area safe. Be warned my early crawler was also a fearless climber. They have no sense of danger.

Set boundaries?!

You need to baby proof.

TheBatwoman · 01/08/2022 16:45

Baby proof as best you can but difficult to set boundaries for a 5mo! If it helps we have a play pen set up as a safe space for our two if there is any reason it’s not safe for them to crawl freely. Otherwise I just encourage them to move and explore and just keep a close eye on them.

Make the room as safe as possible. Take away wipes or anything else she shouldn't have when she gets it and try to distract with something else.

Set boundaries with a 5 month old

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Congratulations, you now have a mobile baby to cause mischief. I suggest watching her like a hawk and moving dangerous stuff up high.

Milliesmmy92 · 01/08/2022 19:28

Yeah I've realised the 'set boundaries' is stupidly said and not going to work- Greta example I turned around to get a nappy while she was on the bed- all the wipes are out of the pack 😂

You can't stop her crawling, just baby proof the house

ChaosMoon · 01/08/2022 19:38

This was me, so you have my sympathies. You are going to become the master of baby proofing and all of your friends will come to you for advice over the next year.

Sbena · 01/08/2022 20:00

I don't know why all babies seem to love wipes!!!

I give my boy free rein of the floor. Baby proof everything, and even then it was an exhausting few weeks repeatedly taking him away from no-no areas. Eventually he got it and doesn't go there anymore

I like to leave his favourite toys scattered over the floor. Keeps him occupied!

sunflowerandivy · 01/08/2022 20:04

Crawling at 5 months?!?! Bloody hell!

easyday · 01/08/2022 20:05

Ha I knew a nine month old who walked - looked kinda weird as in her mums arms she was a baby then she put her down and she walked over!
It doesn't matter what age - once they get mobile just baby proof.

ohidoliketobe · 01/08/2022 20:07

Play pen.

SpamIAm · 01/08/2022 20:11

They love pulling wipes out of the pack, it's so annoying 😂

BertieBotts · 01/08/2022 20:13

Keep the wipes out of reach.

You will find that everything goes up to about coffee table height and then suddenly they can pull up and everything goes up to adult chest height, and then they can stretch their arms up to reach things and suddenly the tops of all your furniture are overflowing with random scissors, toys inappropriately being wielded like Thor's hammer and other assorted hazards.

Control the environment and you don't need to (fail to) control the child :)

vipersnest1 · 01/08/2022 20:24

You do know that it's only a matter of time until she finds the nappy cream if you don't put it out of reach? 🤣
It's practically a law that babies will find it, get the top off and smear it liberally everywhere.

LoveInNashville · 01/08/2022 20:26

Confused Babies crawl. You just need to baby proof your house like everyone else.

My DD walked at 9 months. By 10 months she was claiming onto window ledges.
