11 month old with tummy bug - anything I can give him?

My boy has a tummy bug, he's been throwing up and is generally pale and not himself. Not so bad to take him to the docs, but I only want to take him out to the chemist if there's something I could get that would help, does anybody know if there's anything they'd recommend? His Mum is not home till tea time.

He's not a big eater at the best of times, but will have 3 (smallish) meals a day most days, still BF at night and will take formula in the day, but have heard not to give milk with tummy bug, but it's all he wants atm.

Grateful for any advice. TIA. (No expressed milk in freezer unfortunately).

I think the 'don't give milk' advice is outdated now, so give it to him if that's what he wants. I took my ds to the doctor with sickness and diarrhoea and he said to keep giving him milk, or whatever else he fancied.

It might be worth giving him small amounts of milk or water more frequently, as large amounts in one go may trigger him to vomit.

If he's got diarrhoea too, try Dioralyte to keep him hydrated, otherwise I don't think there's much you can do, just ride it out.

Good luck, I'm sure he'll perk up soon, poor little man

maybe try watering down the milk with cooled boiled water. Start with half strength (half milk half water) and give little and often. D ioralyte is also great if he will take it for you...but you have get that in chemist. Good luck and hope he will be better soon.

Thanks both, he's had a good nap and eaten all his lunch, seems a bit perkier now. He had a good glug of water with lunch too. His bum's not runny so won't need Dioralyte but thanks so much for the advice.
