Infected umbilical cord??

My week old daughter has kicked at her umbilical cord and it’s currently hanging on by a thread!

I’ve text the midwives asking if it’s normal but can anybody on here say if it looks normal or not?

it’s not bleeding or oozing but looks a little sore

I'd say that looks okay. It isn't red and hot round the edge just keep it out in the air as much as possible.

They usually go manky looking and drop off. The babies skin looks fairly clean underneath.

I do postnatal visits for a job and often swab umbilical cords for infection. This looks absolutely fine to me. It is not red and trust me you would know if it was infected, they STINK, we normally know if a cord is infected before we even undress the baby.
The cord will fall off soon, just keep it dry and don't fiddle with it.

Looks fine to me too. It's not red or inflamed. They do just look a bit gross, really,
