How many swim nappies?

Hi all,

We are going to Spain for 2 weeks for the first time with our 2 young children & naturally we will be spending a lot of time by the pool & at the beach.

How many swim nappies would you take for your little one?

I’ve used about 6 during a weeks holiday. I only throw them if they’re soiled though, otherwise I just let them dry out and reuse.

A couple of reusables. Will take up far less space!

At least one a day. Or maybe two a day if you're thinking of doing beach in the morning and pool in the afternoon or similar. And then extras to cover if they poo in it and need it to be changed.

Reusable or disposable?
Disposable ones aren't actually absorbent so if they're not pooey you can just rinse, dry and use again. We bought a pack of 10 maybe a year ago now, and there are still half left, that pack has seen 2 x weeks holidays and a few trips to the local pool! Not sure dd has ever pooed in one, but a couple have got lost.

2 a day. One for morning and one for afternoon. Reuse if no poo and you might bring some home.

HorribleHerstory · 30/07/2022 16:07

you can get suits with them built in, we had those. For all day I’d take another one or two, but reusable ones can just be worn as swimwear really, like trunks. Especially with a rash vest if you want separates.

We used loads in Portugal they took up so much space in the case so took a reusable swim nappy from Aldi for about £6 to Spain and it was so much better.

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 30/07/2022 16:08

Reusable definitely for holiday, much easier. If disposable, i used to take enough for 2 a day, i'd rather have too many than not enough

Gouda1997 · 31/07/2022 13:45

I think it depends on your little one, DD rarely poo'ed in the swim nappy unless it was around her normal poo time in which she did. We have just back off holiday and we bought a pack and bought a few back with us as we dried them if she didn't use them.

CakeCrumbs44 · 31/07/2022 13:46

Do you have washing facilities? If so just get 2 washable ones per child.

dottypencilcase · 31/07/2022 13:55

If it's the swim nappies, they can be dried and reused so 5?

miltonj · 31/07/2022 14:06

I think it depends on if you also put them in a swim suit. If in a swim suit the wee will soak through on to it and it will start to smell and ruin the costume so more changes are needed, if just having them in a nappy, then just as many nappies as you think they're likely to poo during the time they're in the water.
