Children taken into care?

Futball13 · 29/07/2022 21:57

Will these children get taken into care do you think/have you any experience of similar scenarios...

Background...mum of four, two to current partner. However partner has alcohol issues, anger issues, has done time for arson, tried to set fire to previous family, domestic violence history. He has also recently been reported to police by current partner for trying to strangle her in front of kids. She has phoned police for several other incidents. He regularly leaves her then returns. She keeps taking him back. Social work involvement ranked up since strangling incident and children placed on child protection orders, so he is not allowed to be in company of children. He was also supposed to be arranging contact through a contact centre and going to as etc which he doesn't do according to her. She has not been very cooperative with children's services either.

However despite this she has been sneakily seeing him and has recently gone on a caravan holiday with him along with four children. Witnesses told social services about this holiday. What do you think might now happen, could children be taken from her due to failure to protect?

Yes.

bellac11 · 29/07/2022 22:09

They may move to pre proceedings, whereby they alert her to the possibility of proceedings if she doesnt start working properly with them. She would then have a solicitor. If things dont change during that period then she does risk the LA making an application to care for the children

Of course the judge may not agree and the children remain at home, this sometimes happens.

He sounds extremely dangerous

bloodywhitecat · 29/07/2022 22:10

Yes, they could well end up being removed by social services.

YoSofi · 29/07/2022 22:11

If she continues to behave this way then yes, her children could well be removed.

MaxOverTheMoon · 29/07/2022 22:13

Yes I would be surprised if this doesn't go to pre proceedings. Sorry if it's you who is the mum in this OP. If it is you then you need to turn it around right now, own up to the sw and start engaging in domestic abuse support and never see or speak to this man again.

MichelleScarn · 29/07/2022 22:14

He tried to set fire to his children and she is still with him?! Of course children should be removed, she cares naught for them.

TheGrabber · 29/07/2022 22:15

I hate when people choose their partners over their children, sickening.

I'd hope they are removed to be honest, he sounds dangerous.

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 29/07/2022 22:15

Family i know in a similar situation ended up with the child removed by the police and placed in protective custody while an emergency court order was obtained. This followed an incident of domestic violence.

AgentProvocateur · 29/07/2022 22:16

Yes, it’s highly probable that the children will be removed, and rightly so

Me too but unfortunately the Courts are full of people who seem incapable of prioritising their DC.

ThePumpkinPatch · 29/07/2022 22:23

I certainly hope they are! I would imagine Kinship care would be considered but I'm not sure if this situation could prohibit that, due to his violent history. In fact I'm astonished he was given supervised contact at the contact centre! These days courts are slightly more inclined to decide that kids are best off not seeing an extremely violent parent. Obviously I've no idea of the threshold for such a decision but I do know that supervised contact is not granted as easily as it used to be.
To be clear, if the children are^ put into foster care, they will allow the mother supervised contact. However, they may^ have certain conditions and may even stipulate that she comes without the father.

catandcoffee · 29/07/2022 22:25

Hopefully they will for their own protection

Futball13 · 29/07/2022 22:31

It's not me no.

she makes excuses for him, then next day phones police on him for something. Totally toxic. She definitely puts him first even though he is very bad news. She was seen recently with him by social worker so was probably warned then.

The arson incident was several years ago. He palmed it off to her as his ex over exaggerating and she believed it. I only knew about it through a news article.

If it's someone in your family, I don't know elbow you cope watching that unfold.

CharlotteOH · 29/07/2022 22:40

Yes.

FergieFergus · 29/07/2022 22:41

God I hope so.

PritiPatelsMaker · 29/07/2022 22:45

*How you

Not someone in my family. Someone who lives close by but also an acquaintance. Been advising her all along but it's fallen on deaf ears. Constant drama but the holiday with him took the biscuit when she had been clearly told not to see him.

They will be removed and it serves her right any woman who is to weak to not put her children first and get them away from that vile human being, doesn't deserve them. X

hellywelly3 · 30/07/2022 06:01

Happened to a friend of mine. That kind of behaviour became her normal and I don’t think she realised how far her life had slipped downhill. It was a big wake up call when they were taken.

PritiPatelsMaker · 30/07/2022 07:36

Still must be hard for you to see it all unfold, dealing with that level of denial and knowing the damage she's doing to her DC.

Yesthatismychildsigh · 30/07/2022 07:43

Yes. They deserve much better.

PritiPatelsMaker · 30/07/2022 08:17

And where is the Father to the first two DC?

Idontevenknow · 30/07/2022 08:20

I'm guessing you are the witness who told SS?

If this is all true, then you did the right thing.

Futball13 · 30/07/2022 16:55

PritiPatelsMaker · 30/07/2022 08:17

And where is the Father to the first two DC?

Not really involved..it's complicated!
