5 MO not drinking

Anyone have any advice on my 5 mo not drinking! It's been a week now and she's just refusing her milk

If she does take it, it takes an hour of battling / different positions etc it's becoming a nightmare!!

She may be suffering with reflux and if so, it's uncomfortable for them. I would recommend contacting GP.
My DS has silent reflux so they prescribed Omeprazole and carobel thickner which massively helped and he was meaner off it at 12 months one his stomach muscles were stronger and had developed.

Either that or check the teet size is it too big or too small for her if it's coming out too fast or not fast enough this might also be the case?

That didn't make sense with all the typos sorry. I meant he had silent reflux and we managed to wean him off the medication at 12m

Can it suddenly come at 5 months?

I recently moved her from TT anti colic using vari flow teats to standard TT bottles but also using vari flow, wondering if it's that

Is she due to go up a teat size maybe?

What's next after a variflow?

Why did you switch bottles?

redandwhite1 · 28/07/2022 14:35

They were going all cloudy and needed new teats so was easier but now I regret it

My LO is just over 4 and half months using Tommee Tippie anti colic natural bottles. Hes on the medium flow teat.

He was on slow flow for the first 2 and bit months, vari flow from 2 and half to 4 months and been on medium flow for past 2/3 weeks.

redandwhite1 · 28/07/2022 22:19

@mrscotton is the medium quicker than variflow then?

When i looked into it, vari flow is dependant on how much your baby sucks as it has an X shape slit whereas slow, medium & fast flow have different sized round holes so lets the milk flow at a certain rate no matter how hard the baby sucks on it.

I found that mine was sucking on the vari flow teat very hard so changed it to medium flow and it was alot better. We increased the bottle amount & changed teat at the same time & he was more content & was sick alot less (was 3 weeks with no sick).

They say slow & vari flow are 0 months+, medium flow from 3 months & fast flow from 6 months.

@mrscotton thank you for this !!
