Vests

Random but my daughter is 10 weeks and I never know whether to use a vest under her outfits when we go out to the shops etc. tomorrow it’s given 20-21 degrees outside, would you put a vest underneath her top & leggings/dress or whatever she wears?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes. Given the temperature tomorrow I would put a vest on her.
The general rule is that babies should wear 1 more later than you need to

Yes, I usually use the vest as the one extra layer babies need, then matched the rest of our cloths. Eg. If I was in trousers & t-shirt they would have vest, trousers & t-shirt.

I have never put a vest under a baby's clothes in my life. Especially not in 20degree heat! If you think she's cold put a cardi on her, surely?

I only don't put vests on when it's like 25 degrees plus.

Id used a vest instead of a t- shirt/top. I found it held the nappy in place better.

At the moment the vest is usually the top part of his outfit. Mainly because they don't ride up and other outfits can be a pain. He has been wearing dungarees over the top. I haven't been putting anything on top but when we've been out he's been in the sling. If he was asleep in the pram I'd put a thin blanket over him.

Use layers, and make sure you keep checking their temperature by sticking a finger down the back of their outfit.

It all really depends on how your baby responds to temperature. I probably would put a vest on being so young as I'm a cold person. i think I still dress my 8 month old warmer than a friend's 8 week old.

sleepyhoglet · 27/07/2022 19:33

Didn't do outfits at that age and if it's warm I would just go for comfort so a sleeveless vest with babygrow without feet

MuffinMcLayLikeABundleOfHay · 27/07/2022 19:36

Yes, have the vest instead of a top or outfit because it's more comfortable.

Is vest the same as a body suit? At the moment at home he's usually just in a vest and when we go outside I put shorts on him. I usually have the vest as the base layer and then put layers on top of needed as I also don't like tops riding up. I always think it might ge unpleasant for him if I'm holding him touching his bare waist
