2nd ear piercing - 14yr old DD

My dd has asked if she can have a second piercing in her ear. She's asked now so it can heal over the summer holiday, as she's only allowed 1 earring in at school

She's a good girl, doing well at school and is generally polite and not trouble.

I don't have an issue with it, but something is telling me to ask her to wait until she's 16. No idea why, how many of your 14 year old dds have 2 piercings?

Mine agreed waiting for 6th form would be easier as they could leave them in

Dd got her second ones at 11, no big deal.

Lots of DD14's friends have second piercings. As long as it is still lobe and not cartilage, it shouldn't be a problem getting it done.

Some of them have also got round the school rule on earrings (one in each lobe) by taking out the first earring and wearing a stud in the second- looks a bit odd but useful if it's not fully healed by September.

If you don't have an issue then it's fine

There are some special "hole savers" that you can get. My understanding is that since it'll be a fresh hole it can close. So there are these tiny plastic (?) things that are hardly visible for when you're not supposed to be wearing earrings. Think you can wear them doing sports as well, I think that was the original idea.

My daughter had two at 14. Looks lovely.
I think I did at that age too.

Dd had 2nds done at 14, she was one of the last of her friends

For school took 1sts out and left 2nds in

She's 16 now and has 3rds plus 2 others
