Toddler rear facing with joie 360 - how to do it so he doesn’t get scrunched up?

DS is 2.5 with very long legs. We have the joie 360 and he’s been forward facing for a few months because he looked so uncomfortable rear facing
however I’ve been doing a bit of reading and didn’t realise you should keep them rear facing for longer. I’m a bit confused by this, as people were saying they had kids as old as 4/5 rear facing… am I being an idiot? How do you keep the car seat facing the seat without them being scrunched up as they get bigger?

What do you mean by scrunched up? They cross their legs.

They just cross their legs. Children can be quite happy in positions adults might find annoying or ache.

You buy a great big bag of cotton wool to wrap him up in and keep it on until he's at least 25.

Worth reading this incarsafetycentre.co.uk/safety-centre/what-is-rear-facing

But yes, legs would be crossed and this article explains why that's ok

DD is 4 with this seat and prefers to RF.
