I’ve attached a screenshot of her feeds from the past 48 hours.
She went from her birthweight of 7lbs7oz to 6lbs14oz in the space of 4 days because we weren’t burping her correctly and she kept throwing up. Also we stupidly fed her every 4 hours instead of every 2-3, which we corrected after I had a good old cry over feeling like a bad mother lol
She was born 16th July, she is now 9 days old. She got weighed today and she has surpassed her birthweight at 7lbs 10oz. I was surprised how fast she regained the weight, especially in the space of 5 days. I express colostrum for her but I barely produce any at the moment with me not eating much, so she’s mostly formula fed and now she has about 50ml every 2 and a half hours. Sometimes she only has about 20ml and refuses anymore but then 2-3 hours later when the next feed is due she makes up for it by having about 50ml to 60ml.
she is eating a lot more, I was concerned because she was barely hungry before.
it’s most likely a silly question because we feed her when she’s hungry, it’s not as if we can force her to drink more, if she only wants 10-20ml that’s all we can give her …. But is she having enough? I’m pleased with the weight gain but the fluctuation in how much she eats concerns me.
