My 11 day old is now solely formula fed after some combi feeding. She hasn’t been for a poo in almost two days and the last three she did two days ago were hard pebbles which she struggled to pass. Midwife yesterday said to be expected when getting used to formula and not to worry, it could take a couple of weeks. I said if she doesn’t go at all is there a time limit I should seek help and again she said a couple of weeks; this seems excessive to me! Has anyone else got any experience with this? Will it resolve itself??

Yeah it's all new to them so it can be awful - horrible to watch them struggle though. DS once went 10 days without a poo and eventually went all over me.

If you're using powder formula, make sure you're using the right amount and a bottle of ready made can help sometimes. Warm bath, bicycle legs, little massage on the tummy to help things move along (Google for the right direction!). I always find putting DS in a really nice outfit usually guaranteed a huge poo.

@Stevienickssnickers thanks! I'm only using ready made formula not any powder so that's a shame she still seems to be struggling. I've been trying the bicycle legs and massages to no avail! I'm going to my niece's first birthday party today and baby is wearing a pretty dress so maybe she will be look your DS and decide to go in her nice outfit haha

@Stevienickssnickers

I just changed her into her dress and she did two soft poos 😂

These babies are sometimes predictable!

My boy was the same around that age (formula fed too) They are still learning how to poo and get used to the formula bless them.

Same advice as above - bath, move the legs up hold for ten seconds and release , bicycle legs and gently massage the belly. I found it came and went around then every few days. He is 6 weeks now and aside from awful gas pain poos like a tropper now!

Comfrot formula is supposed to help if it gets really bad. I tried it but regretted it as changing his formula seemed to make him fussy qnd irritated so switched back. Doesn't work for everyone
