Maternity allowance & 30 free hours

Hi can I just check if I am self-employed and receiving the full maternity allowance when my son turns 3 would I be eligible for the full 30 free hours? I will be returning to work after my leave. My husband is self-employed and works 40h hours a week. I did call the tax office but I wasn't completely convinced that the person I was speaking to knew the answer 🤣so it would be useful to know if anyone is currently in this situation for confirmation.

No clue OP but you might be best posting on the 'money' board

You both need to be working more than 16 hours per week and earning at least NMW. Everyone gets the universal 15 hours applied but you have to apply additionally for the extra 15 hours once at the start of each term (regardless of whether your nursery has terms or not!)

It’s been quite a few years since I worked there, but I am sure you can apply yes. People getting maternity pay from employer can still apply so i think the same applies if you are on MA. You might just need to send them proof if it’s not on their systems yet (ie a new claim).

Yes I believe so as long as you generally hit the criteria
