Hello all, my DD starts preschool in September.
I’ve ordered some name labels, a little backpack and lunchbox.
I’ll of course pack nappies, change of clothes and water but is there anything else I need to get in preparation?

Thank you!

Hi I am a childminder but also worked as a preschool manager for a few years.
Do you need to provide wellies or slippers?
Make sure you send a sun hat and sun cream until October half term then swap it for winter hat and gloves.
Put a couple of carrier bags in her backpack so that if she needs a change of clothes the staff gave a carrier bag to send her wet/dirty bits home in.
Is she allowed to take a comforter? If so I would get a small special teddy that can be her 'school' teddy let her play with it this summer so the teddy gets the smell of home on it then just pop it in her bag in case she needs help settling.
Name EVERYTHING!!!!
Relax I promise the staff know what they are doing, try not to wobble on your first drop off she will be looking to you for cues on how to behave, if you are happy and relaxed as you drop off she will know she is in a 'safe' space and will settle easier.
Dont be afraid to call half way through the first couple of sessions to see how she is, ask for a photo if they use an online learning system or WhatsApp to communicate with parents.

What age do you mean by pre-school? Do they not provide lunch? Each provision will have different requirements.

Most pre schools require kids out of nappies so you might want to try and potty train over summer? We recently did my daughter at 2y 9m and she's done great, few weeks of accidents but now she's done.

Pre schools don't require dc to be potty trained, nappies are fine. Yes to wellies and spare clothes, cheap clothes that you don't mind getting mucked up!
