What time do you collect your child from nursery?

More for those who have children who do PM sessions or full days. I'm planning to put my child in and just interested when others collect their child

DS did 8.30-4.30 and I collected him at 4.15 as they start preparing for tea at that time and he’d get upset

zebrapig · 19/07/2022 19:57

Normally between 5.45-6pm. He's often one of the last kids there. He's one of the last to arrive though as we don't normally drop him off until around 8.45am.

Whathefisgoingon · 20/07/2022 13:39

He needs to be out by 6, and I usually pick him up between 5:30-5:45.

He does half days so I take him in around 8:30-9.

Oops. 1pm for the half PM days!

Grazka · 20/07/2022 13:41

I wfh till 5:30 so usualy around 5;45

Goodskin46 · 20/07/2022 13:46

I aimed for 4:40-4:45 so they had had their teatime snack. I hated leaving them there till 6 and they hated it too. Occasionally needs must and I was racing through the door at 5:55, but hopefully not too often.

Thegirlhasnamechanged · 20/07/2022 13:53

Mine get there around 8 (or that’s the time we aim for, getting 2 out of the door for then is a seldom done feat) and pick up around 5.15. I used to pick up after I finished work at 4.30 but that is when they have tea at nursery and they got upset leaving when everybody is getting ready for food. I take the opportunity to do house stuff, have a warm cup of tea instead (maybe even read a chapter of my book) and more often than not I put tea on to cook just before leaving so it’s ready for when we get back

RebeccaCloud9 · 20/07/2022 14:27

As close to closing time as possible! The kids always loved it (especially the quieter times at the end of the day) and it meant I could get stuff done before they came home.

20viona · 20/07/2022 14:28

Around 5.30. It shuts at 6.

hameltonjose · 20/07/2022 14:32

Leave them behind at 8:00 and bring her home as near as 4 as you can. However, she takes a shower at six o'clock. Early mornings are difficult because we need them, but we understand she is properly cared for and that we are trying to be polite to her, so it's all worth it.

bellsbuss · 20/07/2022 14:32

We used to pay from 8-6 2 days a week for all of our children, but as a SAHM I would generally pick them by 5ish

QforCucumber · 20/07/2022 14:39

8:30 - 530 5 days a week.

other one is at an after school childminder until a similar time

Tallulah79 · 20/07/2022 15:05

4 days 3.30 and 1 day 5pm

SNAFU247 · 20/07/2022 15:06

The session at ours runs until 6pm, but we try and collect about 5:15/5:30pm

SaharaSahara · 21/07/2022 06:28

It depends on each individual situation, some need to work and some don’t. I intend to collect mines at 3ish but that’s because sibling finishes school around then so I prefer to pick them both up.

Ontomatopea · 21/07/2022 07:06

I'm so surprised at all the pp saying their nursery shuts at 6. That wouldn't give me any leeway for traffic if I left work at 5.

Essie274 · 21/07/2022 07:10

3.30pm on a full day (once a week), the other two I pick up at lunch time.

Numbat2022 · 21/07/2022 07:12

Nursery is open 7.30-6.30. We drop off about 8.45/9ish (breakfast at home because we both wfh and we like to have a less rushed morning), and pick up about 6. Sometimes closer to 6.30 if I use the time after finishing work at 5.30 to do some housework.

When he was tiny pre-pandemic I used to pick him up at 4pm on wfh days because I felt guilty leaving him longer, but he was absolutely fine and has always loved nursery.

stuntbubbles · 21/07/2022 07:26

8.30-5.45. She used to do more 9-4.30 but I changed jobs and needed to drop off earlier, and DP does pick up and his “chill out time between finishing wfh, and going to get dd” has drifted and drifted and drifted. Hmm

Not us with trains, we were tied to one that shut at 6:15 for this reason.

isthatwhatyoureallywanted · 21/07/2022 08:02

Dropped off at 7.45 (had to pay extra for the 7.30 - 8.00 slot but no choice as otherwise I would have missed my train) and picked up at 5.55 when they would be in their coat with their bag next to them sat in the tiny reception area with the manager singing nursery rhymes, chatting or having a book read to them.

Ihaveoflate · 21/07/2022 08:55

My husband drops her off at about 8am and I start work early to facilitate a 4:30pm pick up. I work about 5 min walk away from nursery or from home, which obviously helps. If I had a long commute there's no way I could get there that early, but I'm sure she'd be absolutely fine either way.
