Clothes for bed?

My kids are 2.5 (still in a cot but she can climb out, we normally zip her sleep sack on inside out to keep her in for safety reasons) and 6 months and they need blankets to sleep ie won’t sleep if they don’t have them on.

it’s like 29 degrees in their rooms, will they be ok with a 0.2 and a nappy? They’ve both got 2 fans, ones a cooling one, not blowing directly on them but circulating air in the room.

I think 0.2 and nappy will be fine.

We're in Scotland. 2.5 year old has gone to bed in nappy, vest and v thin cellular blanket. Vest was his choice I wanted him in just a nappy. It's 25c in his room and he's just fallen asleep (crossing my fingers for a good night).

Newborn will be in nappy and 0.5 sleeping bag. I expect our room will also be 25c when we go to bed.

Just checked it’s 28 degrees..: ugh

The general advice when they can climb out it to get rid of the cot because it’s a safety risk. At that temperature I would just go for a nappy if needed a thin sheet.

I'd use a nappy and just something like a giant muslin if you have one which can be like a sheet.

The 0.2 bag is pretty much a muslin though isn't it?

I agree I would have got rid of the sides from the cot/transitioned to bed by now due to climbing out but it's probably not the night to be dealing with that!!

We did for a bit and she wouldn’t go to sleep, she just kept on getting up and running around. We found her fiddling with the sink in the bathroom at one point, some people suggested locking her in her room, but I’m not 100% on that.

with her sleep sack on inside out she can’t Climb out because she can’t take it off, but we need to do something moving forward.

open to advice and suggestions

The 0.2 is the Tommie tippee ones, it’s basically a v thin sheet. I’ve got an Aden and anais one that’s apparently a 1 tog but it’s like just a muslin sheet, feels lighter maybe but the labelling put me off:

baby is out of sleep sack now as was too hot

What we did when ours were ready for a bed was to put a stairgate across their bedroom. This meant that they were free to get out of bed but not able to go elsewhere until we were ready for them to do so. It was safer, too, as they could not fall downstairs.

How did you manage to close the bedroom door? We wouldn’t be able to close ours and the baby crying and lights would wake her up otherwise

We had a gate and could still close the door, why wouldn't you be able to?

I might be being really thick, but it goes inside the door frame right? How would it close then?

(no one come for me if this is really stupid, mean a rough few days and the heat has my head gone)

I’m daft… i just looked at the door frame and was like oooh yeah that’s how. Long day
