FTM - Baby is having 8 week vaccination on Tuesday. I got Calpol ready anything else I should have ready/be aware of?

Which side effects did your baby have and how long did they last?

Thank you in advance 👍🏻

Depending on where you are in the U.K. you may want to wait till the heat passes just in case your baby gets a fever

Neither child ever had any side effects from any of them except for a single blister after the chickenpox vaccine.

MolliciousIntent · 17/07/2022 19:11

No side effects whatsoever.

None here either.

I would personally wait a few weeks

Pizzaandsushi · 17/07/2022 19:21

My little boy had explosive nappies from the rotavirus immunisation (both times) along with some tummy discomfort. it lasted a day or two and then he seemed to be back to normal.
otherwise the Calpol did the trick and wouldn’t say he was any more cranky than usual. Maybe drank a little less the following day but no fever.

firefly123 · 17/07/2022 19:23

Should have said just because it is so hot. If cooler where you were just have calpol at the ready. My daughter had a nasty rash all over and v high temp post 8 week jabs so keeping cool was a must

bakewellbride · 17/07/2022 19:24

I've had 2 babies and no major issues / nothing calpol and lots of cuddles couldn't resolve. Obviously the baby comes first but don't forget to consider you and what you might need. For example pack some tissues just in case. Sometimes I cry after my babies are vaccinated!

PinkDaffodil2 · 17/07/2022 19:25

My daughter had fever and was a bit upset for a few hours after the MenB jabs but settled quite quickly. Calpol helped.

MajorCarolDanvers · 17/07/2022 19:26

One was tearful for a few days. The other was sleepy for a few days.

Chdjdn · 17/07/2022 19:42

my DD had hers on a really hot day and was then feverish and wanting to feed and be cuddled which in the heat was hard going so with the weather predicted to be so hot on Tuesday I’d delay but other than that I wouldn’t worry

Thank you for all the replies.

I’m still in two minds if I should change the vaccination date till the week after when it won’t be that hot. Weather forecast app says it’s gonna be 37 degrees on Tuesday.

A little temp. DD1 slept really well so I was very disappointed when this didn’t happen with DD2!

My daughter has hers on Tuesday too - I checked with the health visitor and they said to continue to have them even though it’s going to be hot. Just take the normal steps to keep them cool.
they said if any worries the nurse or gp will reschedule

x

BabyCHasArrived · 17/07/2022 21:59

Sorry meant to say if the nurse I’d GP had any concerns they would reschedule

Baby has his jabs yesterday in the scorching heat of 37 degrees. It’s been just over 24 hours now and he hasn’t had any side effects at all 🙏🏻 I’m so relieved 🙏🏻

Did anyone’s babies have side effects and which ones when they had their 12 week and 16 week vaccinations?

First child was tearful with a temperature for a few days after every jag.
Second child was sleepy for a few days after every jag - that was excellent I got so much done.
