Dummy fairy's coming tonight

Toddler has dummy and (the corner of) a blanket is the dummy fairy taking the blanket or just dummies?

I'm worried he relates one to the other so they should possibly both go??

the blanket isn’t a problem surely? I would leave it with them so they still have one of their comfort objects.

Albgo · 17/07/2022 13:07

One thing at a time. Just dummies.

Ithinkwemightgetaholiday · 17/07/2022 13:07

Ooh def just dummies.

Personally I'd go for the gentle approach rather than cold turkey, I'm a complete softy though. I'd keep the blanket.

Nadal · 17/07/2022 13:09

What the harm in a blanket?

HuffleWoof · 17/07/2022 13:10

Personally I would wait until Wednesday but that's just me because kids struggle to sleep in the heat as it is

Monoandsix · 17/07/2022 13:10

The dummy fairy only takes dummies.

In our house the dummy fairy also brought a present bribe to replace the dummy. Usually a soft toy. So keep the blanket.

Ohmydayssilleople · 17/07/2022 13:16

Definitely would leave it until after Wed !With my boys they took their dummies to the toy shop and gave them to the shop assistant. She handed a toy over...which I had already paid for!!
It really worked for both of them, two years apart. Good luck!

Cait73 · 17/07/2022 13:59

Yes the dummy fairy has a "replacement" thank you gift all ready

I'm happy for him to have the blanket but just worried he links the 2 as he ALWAYS asks for "corner & dummy"

FatPatsCat · 17/07/2022 22:53

Stay strong OP! Are you a FTM?

Cait73 · 17/07/2022 23:36

@FatPatsCat what's FTM?

The blanket lives!

Ahh you know what to expect then, you're a pro!! One of my DCs was brilliant when the dummy fairy came, the other was really difficult for a few days!

Cait73 · 18/07/2022 10:53

@FatPatsCat this one's going to be tricky, he's already emptied all the bins opened all the drawers in his room and spent a lot of time under beds and sofas!!!

OP posts:
FatPatsCat · 18/07/2022 17:29

Ahh poor thing! Stay strong, you know he'll have forgotten about it in a week max!

Cuwins · 18/07/2022 17:36

We are getting rid of the dummy at the end of the week- but DD is only 5m so too young for the dummy fairy. It's going because we are also transitioning her from co-sleeping to her own cot and the short periods she spends in her own cot now (a couple of hours max a night) I end up going in repeatedly to replace the fallen out dummy! Can't be doing that all night so it's going. 😟

Bless him! Has he found any?

Cait73 · 18/07/2022 19:51

@Cuwins I wish to goodness I'd done it before he was one BUT he's had back to back respiratory infections so I've put it off and put it off and now here we are

He's not found any more he's also not found sleep, we've had proper big tear sobbing, anger screaming and throwing things now he's just sitting up refusing to lie down or even try to sleep

Can't tell you how tempted I am to get one out of the bin, but it'll only mean having to do this all over again at a later stage

As predicted the blanket is only making him miss his dummy more every time he touches it he bursts into tears

Man parenting is hard

Oh no poor you and poor him. I think we will be in for a rough couple of nights but hoping her memory is so short at that age she will soon get over it.

Cait73 · 18/07/2022 20:16

@Cuwins definitely, you're doing it at a "perfect" time

I'm not sure there is ever a 'perfect' time! 😂 wish we had never given it to her but she has had quite bad reflux and it seemed to help
