So confused about allergies!!

DD is 4.5 months old and EBF, her dirty nappies are soft and yellow but just pure mucous! It’s been like this for ages and I’ve stopped eating dairy, soy, eggs, gluten, nuts, caffeine, and oats: I stopped dairy and soy first for about a month with no improvement and so I started cutting out other things too but her nappies are just consistently full of mucous! All in all I’ve been eliminating allergens for about 2.5 months.

the thing is she has no other symptoms except some eczema but her eczema has been a lot better lately. She never seems in pain, she’s doesn’t have constipation or diarrhoea, she doesn’t have reflux (used to get some silent reflux but hasn’t for a while), her stomach isn’t bloated, she has no problems being on her back, her sleep is awful but only because we hit the sleep regression a few weeks ago.

i feel like I’m going crazy checking ingredients for everything and missing out on so much food when I don’t even know if it’s a problem. I have no idea if I’m obsessing over nothing because she doesn’t seem bothered but I can’t shake the feeling that all this mucous means her digestive system is irritated by something.

does anyone have any experience with allergies and breastfeeding and nappies like this??

also, doctors all say the same thing: dairy allergy! And that I can get her prescribed formula but she absolutely refuses a bottle so this isn’t really an option, plus I’ll have to wean her soon and she’ll have to experience foods although god knows what I should even try giving her!

blood tests are also out I think because they are mostly unreliable especially when it comes to intolerances rather than allergies which seems more likely.

You need to see an allergy specialist and get proper testing. I'd be surprised if it's an intolerance rather than an allergy when she's so little and EBF.

My son's CMPA allergy symptoms were bad eczema, mucus, and blood in stools. It was diagnosed at 4/5 months and he was mix fed. What i found when weaning though was that milk is in a lot of things you would never suspect. Things like crisps for instance.
