Hi guys, I don’t know if you saw my post a few days ago so my son vomited like 12 times had to take him to ae they gave him anti sickness and he has a stomach bug since yesterday he hasn’t vomited but not been eating slot just toast crackers apple etc he’s been very down woke up today at 10.30am had his breakfast and fell back to sleep at 11.30 he’s not like this he is full of energy so I am worried he doesn’t seem dehydrated he has wet nappies and has been having diorlyte regularly. Should I be worried? Or does he just need some rest?

ps: I have anxiety so I do worry about little things please don’t judge.

He just needs to rest. I'd just let him sleep whenever he wants. Last time I had D&V I spent about 20 hours asleep in a 24 hour period.

Finger's crossed he's feeling better soon.

@Stevienickssnickers thank you for th reply that’s why I was thinking aswell, yes never had a bug this had so I am sure of what to expect. Thank you though xx

Let him sleep. My 3yo has had 2 nasty stomach bugs. Last time he slept most of the time for 5 days, with brief awake periods to watch TV etc. The doctor said 1 wee in 16 hours is OK. I worked hard at getting him to drink. Once he recovered he was back to normal.

Before Easter DD (4) had a stomach bug, vomited every 10-20 minutes for about 20 hours, and barely ate for 5 days in total. Then she started eating again and was totally back to normal.

Give him diluted Apple juice, it has been shown in clinical trials to be more effective than electrolyte fluid replacements drinks in kids with gastroenteritis. If you have ice lolly mould make diluted Apple juice lollies. Let him sleep, he will be exhausted, anybody would.

He'll bounce back in no time.

No extra advice, just that also have a small child with a stomach bug. And I called the go on Friday morning and she recommended diluted apple juice as well, and to monitor the frequency of wee.

I@BendingSpoons

he’s been sleeping for the majority of the day aswell it’s just so worrying. He has been weeing but it does seem quite yellow is that normal?

I would encourage him to drink more OP, his wee is more yellow because he hasn't been able to hold his fluids down. If you are worried call 111 for advice.

Get him to drink more and let him sleep however much he wants

you know yourself when you’re unwell you just want to rest

Garman · 12/07/2022 09:37

Have you never had a stomach bug yourself? Yes it's normal to sleep more and have more concentrated wee.
