What are your babies wearing to bed?

Keep feeling unsure about what to put dd in at night! She's 5 months and I only have 2.5 tog grobags (planning to buy some thinner ones this w/e).

I've looked at images you can google where it has temperatures and a picture with what to put them in (see image). I'm assuming it means if at night the temperature is e.g 24-27degrees then vest and 0.5 tog grobag, or does it mean if the daytime temperature is 24-27...??

I've generally had her in long/short sleeved vest and 2.5 tog grobag. Tonight she's in just a nappy and grobag. But every night it plays on my mind whether she'll be too hot/too cold!

It's 21 degrees in our nursery right now (8pm) so 2.5tog gro bag and vest. Expecting it to cool down overnight so if she wakes up cold I'll add a babygro - but would rather she didn't start off too hot. She's 8mo.

It's really hot here so just a short sleeved vest for my nearly 4 month old.

I take it as the temperature expected overnight, in the room the child is sleeping in. DS is in a 0.5 tog bag and a t shirt only. It’s currently 26 degrees in his room and it probably won’t drop much below 23 degrees.

2.5 seems quite heavy for this time of year unless you live somewhere not so warm of course. That’s only ever come out in winter here.

Mine are too big for sleeping bags but I always took it as what temperature the room was at the time you put them to bed.

I never had the 0.5 tog sleeping bags but used the 1 tog ones a lot in summer. When it was too hot for those I used to put DC down in just a nappy or maybe a sleeveless vest, then cover them with one of those giant muslins.

My 8 month old is just in a nappy and a 1.5 tog. I don’t have a room thermometer but it’s pretty warm!

It's 25.2° in my 9 months nursery now and I'm just debating whether to go nappy and 1 tog sleeping bag or just a baby gro with no sleeping bag. I wish I had a 0.5 tog bag.

Our groegg says 25.2c in our nursery and DD is in a vest and 0.5tog grobag.

If baby is cold, they will cry and wake you up. If they are too hot, they won't and overheating babies can very quickly become very seriously ill / die. I would always err on the side of caution and underdress at night rather than over.

DD has been in a 0.5tog since May (London). I've only ever used 2.5tog in the middle of winter.

Just a vest, but mine run hot. I pop a blanket on if I think it will cool down later, but they’ve never felt cold. We’ve always done a mix of cellular blankets and/or sleeping bag, but they do get quite warm in a sleeping bag even the 0.5 tog we have at the moment.

26 degrees. Long sleeve vest and 0.2 tog bag. She doesn't like her arms uncovered unless it's 28 degrees

Room temp 26.3 8 month old in short sleeve and short pjs will put in a 1.5 tog sleeping bag if it cools down later. Tbh I think just feel the back of their necks my even if it says it's really warm in this room he can get cold so I'll throw a blanket over him until he wakes up for his next feed.

Yeah I thought 2.5 might be a bit thick so have been opening it at the bottom to let some air in. But it doesn't actually feel that thick and it's all I've got atm, though as I said I'm going to buy some thinner ones this w/e as it's going to be pretty warm for the next couple of weeks (I'm in the uk).

Maybe I should just have her in a vest tonight and no grobag 😬

Do you have a smart thermostat? I just go off that. Generally though, I read the following somewhere which made sense: if the room feels actively chilly, 2.5 tog bag. If it’s pleasant, 1 or 1.5 tog bag. If it feels hot, then 0.5 tog.

It the temp in their room at the current time, not what's going on outside.

Babies room here is currently 26.5 and they are both in a short sleeved vest.

We have something called a gro egg which tell you the temp and glows.

Sleepsuit and 1tog bag

Last summer (my dd was born in April) so was in a short sleeve vest and 1 tog gro bag and our room was about 24-26 degrees. During the heat wave when it was hotter she was usually just in a vest then I would add the gro bag in the night when she woke for a feed but I remember one or 2 boiling nights just having her in a nappy until her 10pm feed then putting her in a vest and grobag. Now she's 15 months she's in a short sleeve vest and thin leggings but no gro egg so not sure on the temp.

We co sleep so I can't really cover her with a blanket and feel certain she couldn't/wouldn't wriggle down underneath it. Which is the main reason I use a grobag (and I just have a single blanket over me).

I'd say a long sleeve vest/body suit and the gro bag would be fine.

Legs bare but inside the bag and long sleeves to stop arms getting chilly.

A blanket? Lol.
Grow bags are such a gimmick. 5 children and have never used grow bags, they quickly learn not to kick a blanket off and have the ability to kick it off when hot.
Gro bags are awful, if hot they're trapped. I've known 18 month old toddlers not to understand about kicking blankets off because they're in gro bag!!
My 6 month old is in a long sleeved vest and a blanket over her.

25 degrees so just a vest.

We cosleep and baby will be in either a sort arm/leg romper or just a babygrow. I haven’t used more than a 1.5 tog sleeping bag even when it was freezing cold outside as I think I act as a radiator for her.
I don’t think the guides are that useful for cosleeping because they don’t take the shared heat into account
