Allergy experiences?

So firstly I have sought medical advice but my doctor and HV only took calls. They dismissed it as colic or reflux and prescribed gaviscon which hasn't helped.

4 week old has been very fussy after feeds. He really isn't sleeping. Lots of spit up, dry skin and lots of spots. This is all just on his face at the moment. He's really gassy and wakes himself up when he does manage to get some peace. Pooing a lot but looks normal - no blood which I've been told is the only concern with poop. He has been sick today but in general not much and I think its from the heat

I'm paranoid it's an allergy to his formula (he is formula fed) but could it just be colic and eczema..? Anyone got any experiences? I'm at a loss and it's horrible seeing him get so little sleep and be distressed. I'll keep on at the doctor

Try the comfort formula as a starting point, and dr Browns bottles. My son was similar, he had a lactose intolerance and severe silent reflux, which he's now grown out of thank god! He cried A LOT! The comfort formula is easier to digest. A dummy also helped him.

Milk allergy diagnosis can often take multiple visits to GP before it is diagnosed - they have little training on it.

Can you ask if you could try a different formula for a couple of weeks? You'll need it prescribed. Is there any history of allergies/ asthma in you or your partner? As they often consider this.
Pooh will often have mucus or be green too. Blood isn't the only symptom.

GPs work on the fact that if child is thriving , carry on until it is clear what the problem is. This is reasonable imo. If it is an allergy it will become clear. Ordinary formula is easier to acquire, cheaper and more palatable than cmpa formula. You say you are 'paranoid' but what is it that worries you?

@Mummy2C my brother and nephew had to have prescribed formula. No mucus in poo, just going a lot suddenly.

@yikesanotherbooboo paranoid I'm making him sick with his current formula.

It's just so hard to see him so unsettled and the doctor and HV haven't really given me much advice.

@Mummy2C I did buy some of the aptamil comfort formula, so I will give that a try
