What cup for 2 year old?

I posted earlier about my 2 year old but this is a question about cups. He is just turned 2 and we give him all his drinks (water only) in a cup with a straw. It's one of those plastic ones with a lid.

As I said he only has water apart from bedtime milk, but I've read conflicting things about the different types of cups impacting on teeth. I thought straws were meant to be fine, and better than spouts for teeth, but now I'm not sure?

What cup does your 2 year old use?

Using a straw cup with water is absolutely fine for the teeth, but the only problem is that he can use it while still reclining and sucking, and not sitting upright or tipping the cup to his mouth. Learning to drink from an open cup is a skill which takes toddlers a bit of time and practice to develop, so I’d probably try transitioning him soon.

An open cup mostly. She takes medication which is dissolved in liquid so still has a sippy cup for that.
