Hello, so my 15 month old son has a HUGE ulcer on his tongue it's causing a lot of pain for him. He's crying constantly and has stopped eating now as a result. Currently away in Scotland - live in Manchester. Tried calling 111 after being passed to 4 different services a GP is calling me back, still waiting an hour later.

have tried, calpol, nurofen, bonjela, anbesol (not all together) with no success in relieving his pain.

does anyone have any advice for my poor boy, we are considering going home as he is keeping other guests awake in the guest house.

thank in advance any advice would be greatly appreciated

Poor thing, I’d suspect Hand, Foot and Mouth based on what you’ve said. It can be quite contagious- DH caught it from DD, so I would probably head home if I were you. Keep up the painkillers and offer cold drinks and soft food like yoghurt, smoothie pouches etc. The worst of it lasted a few days for us, completely better within a week.

My son had this with his first cold sore infection it was horrible. He was the same age and it was initially misdiagnosed as scarlet fever 🤒
He would only eat rich tea biscuits dunked in actual tea

@RandomQuest as you predicted blisters have appeared on his hands over night. On route home this morning, fortunately he is feeling a bit better today and slept better too! Hope it doesn't get too bad for him, poor boy! x

@AdamRyan rich teas have gone down a treat!! Thank you 😃 x
