Potty training

We’ve had a potty out for around 6 months now and we are now going to actively try and potty train my 2.5 year old. He has done a wee in the potty but never anything else!

I don’t want to sit and read through books about it, he already tells us when he’s done a wee or a poo, and he knows what the potty is for though is not always receptive to sitting on it when I tell him it is time. He likes to sit on his when we are on the loo, and will occasionally use it.

I still have him in nappies, they are pull ups but I’ve just read that as these absorb so much, he won’t necessarily feel wet and as such he won’t start to “dislike” the feeling and opt to use the potty. Is this a thing!? Should I change him to potty training nappies or just pants? He goes to nursery 3 mornings a week so I need them on board too.

help!

We potty trained at 2.5 and went straight to pants. Completely stopped the nappies. He had about 15 accidents the first day, the second day i took him the toilet every 1 hour and he wee'd every time and was pretty much wee trained in a few weeks. Nursery were completely on board and I sent him in with plenty of spares. But... 10 months down the line hes still pooing in his pants and up until last month wouldnt even entertain a poo on the potty but will now at least try. Its really frustrating but i guess he will just get it one day when he feels confident. Dry nights are nowhere in sight but I know that's also normal until much older

If you think he's ready, I would just do pants and loose shorts or joggers that are easy to pull up and down. I've never done the whole naked from the waist down thing that seems to be popular these days - to me, it doesn't seem to be respectful of the child's dignity and I've potty trained eleven children successfully with them wearing pants.

Hi. Im a week into potty training one of my twins..a boy. He is 2.5 yrs old. He has done poo's since the start aided n got on potty himself, however no wee yet. He wee's on floor or wherever all the time, i kept him bottomless still. I did put pants and still accidents. Any advice. Im wondering if he's not ready but Im 1 week in and part of me dont want to quite as I know I will have to start over again, & feel surely he will crack it.

Thanks

Oh crap method- ditch any nappy or pull up except for bed times. Have him naked at home for a few days, then clothes without underwear and then pants and clothes.
don’t go backwards, once you commit just do it- and don’t ask if they need a wee etc. just remind them to tell you and stick them on the potty before venturing out/ or if you see them start to dance like they need the loo.
“once you’ve done a wee we can go to the shops” stick them on the potty and walk away, no pressure, no reward charts, no scoulding for accidents.
