Hello everyone, my baby is 2 months old... we have recently noticed a tiny hole in the top of her mouth. Its not big but noticeable when you look well. When she had her tongue tie assessment last week the doctors said it looks like an ulcer and didnt do anything further. Today we had our 8 week check at the gp and I mentioned it to the doctor. She had a look and said we need to be reffered to the hospital for the specialists to have a look if it is a hole which will close up by itself or a hole which connects to the nose. If it connects to the nose she probably needs surgery... I am breast and bottle feeding her and she is fine with it. She does not get any milk up her nose. She has a bit of a blocked nose since she was born tho. I am not sure if it has got anything to do with it. But we did not notice this hole before, I think I would have noticed when she was crying. I think it is there since about 2 weeks. I researched online and it says about a cleft palate and I am so scared. But would a cleft palate not be there since birth? I dont want my baby to get hurt she had 2 tongue tie cuts already I just want her to be fine. I am so scared I don't know what to do😔

I know it's hard but try not to panic.

It could be absolutely nothing. They will refer her though because with such a small baby they need a specialist to take a look.

She's feeding well and gaining weight well so nothing to be terrified of at the moment.
