Hi,
I'm looking for advice about my 4.5 month old's sleep. He slept through the night from 8-15 weeks. I know we were very lucky and we were aware it wasn't likely to last. Since we hit the 4 month sleep regression it's been getting worse and worse. If this is temporary and we just need to ride it out then that's fine, I can cope. But I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?? When he was sleeping through he was going to bed with us around 9:30/10pm and waking at 6:30/7am. We had no particular routine. Then we tried to introduce a bath/story etc and bring bedtime forward. Some nights he's asleep by 7:30, other nights it takes 3hrs to get him settled and it'll be after 10pm. He has 3 naps in the day, usually around an hour.
He's now waking up at least every 2hrs (sometimes 45mins) from 1am and is up for the day at 5:30. He's EBF and the only way I can get him to sleep is by feeding him. My partner can sometimes bounce him to sleep but not always and he's pretty heavy (91st centile) so I definitely can't manage that very often. Every time he wakes in the night I stick a boob in his mouth to settle him again. But doing that every 45 minutes am I overfeeding him?? I keep reading that he should learning to self-soothe, but how??? If I leave him he gets more and more upset to the point where its impossible to get him him back to bed. Patting and shushing does nothing. He has no 'drowsy but awake' window. He's either alert, happy and ready to play or crying because he's overtired. I don't know how to stop feeding him to sleep if that's what I'm doing wrong!
Please help!! Xx
