Hi everyone

My 3 week old is really constipated and struggling to go, I've tried loads to get things moving but nothing so far has worked just a lot of farting 🙈

Recommendations of what I can do to help?

It's pretty normal for a newborn to struggle to poo at times and only really a concern if they're crying or screaming or if the poo is hard pellets.

Congratulations on your new LO Flowers

@PritiPatelsMaker

She is screaming and crying when she's trying to go for one 😢 she's clearly very uncomfortable

It can be very normal, some babies don't like the sensation to poo as everything is so new to them. They have the overwhelming urge to poo but the anus muscles remain closed.
Crying when trying to pop increases the abdominal pressure to then poo. My little girl was the same, it was called infant dyschezia. Babies do eventually learn

How often is she pooing and is she BF or FF @emilylouisee?

emilylouisee · 04/07/2022 16:38

I gave her some gripe water and within half hour she had a massive poo 😀
She's now back to being a happy baby

Is the poo hard or is she just struggling to get it out?

emilylouisee · 04/07/2022 22:50

@Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas

It was like her normal poo, mustardy colour and runny.
She was just struggling to go
