Leaving 'clingy' 18 mth old in creche?

DD has a swimming lesson on Friday and DP has been offered an extra day's work. DS has never been left with a stranger before and he's particularly clingy at the moment. He hates being picked up by anyone other than DP or myself (he'll just about tolerate my dad!) There's a creche at the pool and it would only be for an hour or so. Should I leave him there or not?

Totally go for it! If you dont break this habit now it will become worse. You know he will be safe and he needs to understand that sometimes mum and dad cant always be there! Have fun go enjoy the swimming - the staff at the creche will get you if theres a problem.

Tbh I wouldn't.

My ds is 19mo and he has been in nursery since he was 5mo but still if there are no workers there who he is really familiar with he gets really upset when I go and takes ages to settle. If your ds has never been left with a stranger and doesn't know anyone there I imagine he would be very upset.

Thanks for the imput. I've decided to take him and have a word with the staff. They can always come and get me if he gets too upset!

Sounds like a good compromise!! Hope it goes well.

I wouldn't do it. I think at this age he would need a proper settling in period, not a drop and run approach.
