4 year old accidents

My DD (4 and a half) has been potty trained for almost 2 years. She’s still never really mastered the art of knowing when she needs a wee and taking herself to the toilet (unless it’s for a poo). So unless me and my DH regularly prompt her, she’ll just wet herself. And she won’t even tell us she’s wet herself. This is resulting in lots of accidents at preschool, and as she’s starting school in September, it’s something we want to address. (Not sure if it’s relevant, but she’s also not remotely dry at night.)

Any ideas?

I have issues with my 4yo girl too. She won't go unless prompted. Think it's behavioural. However, she is 100% dry at night and if she weren't I'd be asking for a referral to the paediatric continence nurse at our childrens hospital (I work there and only know of this person because I've met them).

Thank you - yes, I was wondering if it was time to start getting a professional involved. I’ll ring the GP and get the process started.
